I love everything about these sandals except one thing-these sandals after wearing them one time in saltwater smell incredibly bad and I can’t even wear them anymore. I tried to wash them by sticking them in hot water with Woolite-didn’t do anything to reduce the smell. I’ll probably try to clean them in another way since they are so incredibly comfortable and feel great on my feet. But the smell is like the worst, oldest pair of sneakers I’ve ever owned. For how relatively little I wore them, they are extraordinarily smelly. Keen-you need to figure this out as I would love to buy them again and again but just can’t with that awful smell.Keep in mind, no other sandals that I’ve owned and wore in the water ever had this smell. Not even a prior pair of cheaper Keens!I was hesitant due to the price but I am very satisfied with these shoes. I bought them to use while kayaking. I have yet to kayak. I find myself slipping these on just to wear around the house. I have gone for walks, to the grocery store and Home Depot in these shoes. They are comfortable and surprisingly give great support, very unexpected from “water” shoes.Size 10 1/2, that I needed, came at least 1 size smaller than normal. I found the toe uncomfortably stuck under that plastic front bump and the heal 3/8s out of the sole. I am a Keen user and it never happened before, so it was weird. For this particular model, one needs to order one size bigger than his normal. Also, because of the bland textile material, this water shoe doesn't provide any ankle support and to little arch support.The shoes themselves fit and wear very well. The issue I have is that the material of the upper is off gassing formaldehyde - ammonia - or something that smells terrible and is very strong. I have washed them repeatedly and used anti-bacterial soap then stuck them in the freezer for 3 days in case it was bacterial. It isn't. I have contacted the seller and the manufacturer and basically been given a shrug as a solution. I hope that eventually the off gassing will stop. Until them they are being stored in the garage.Don't get me wrong. This is a great water shoe. I love them! However, pay close attention to the daily price fluctuations. This shoe jumped from 79.99 to 104.99 over a course of 4-5 days. I've been monitoring the price for awhile now and it appears the price changes regularly. If you get it on the right day, you can save a lot of money. Also, if you are not set on a particular color, sometimes the other colors are cheaper too.I like how the sandal looks. I like the materials, design and functionality. However, I bought this a half size larger then my foot and it is very tight over the top of my foot. I am hoping that it will stretch out a bit and get more comfortable over time. But, if I ordered it any bigger it would not fit the rest of my foot. May be time for a redesign.Loved the product, but it takes a long time to dry out!These shoes were purchased for a cruise vacation. They were very comfortable right out of the box. I started to break them in with daily walks but they never felt too stiff or tight. I wore them on the plane, the ship, the beach, sailboat, in the ocean, over rocks, and on & off trails. I walked and jogged comfortably in them. They are well built and comfortable with or without socks. Great purchase!Size 11 fits as expected - was advised to order a size above normal - worked out ok. Pretty comfy, well made, seem durable, but a problem after 4 weeks ownership/wearing: A smell not entirely unlike cat wee has started to emanate from them...No option here to contact seller now, so will contact Keen directly. UPDATE: contacted Keen Europe; disinterested, saying no other cases of this reported and to use tea tree oil to treat them. No more Keen products for me then...I tried a few Keen designs and the Evofit was by far the most comfortable with removable insole and fits-like-a-glove material. A bit more expensive but for me, after suffering from plantar fasciitis, a good shoe is everything! Just for the record I needed to go up a half size to UK 8.5 than my usual 8 fit. And although I'm female I went for the men's shoe for width. Very happy with my purchaseThese are great...Really comfortable from the get go.
